I am a PhD Candidate in Prehistoric Archaeology and Osteoarchaeology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
I graduated in Cultural Heritage Management with a thesis on Anthropology in 2011. I published two articles with EXARC (2013-2 and 2018-3) and a book published in 2018 ("I guerrieri Piceni").
In 2002, I decided to actively pursue my historical interest and incorporate my skills in physics, electronics and engineering.
Dr Peter Groom is an Experimental Archaeologist (MA) and Environmentalist (MSc). He is a director of the Mesolithic Resource Group (www.mesolithic.org.uk).
Historical and Archaeological Interpretation
I teach experimental archaeology in the Anthropology department at Humboldt State University, California. The labs and classes provide student insight into past technologies, helping them recognize the tools and evidence in the field.
I'm an archaeologist and game developer, and founded Immersive Heritage to create games and visualizations that can bring heritage research and results to a diverse audience.
Since 1993 I work on the field of living history, mainly covering the Middle Ages. I hold lectures in schools, kindergartens & universities in medieval clothing and equipment. I explain the development of arms and armour.
My dissertation looked at the possible uses of seaweed in Viking Age Metallurgy. This research used experimental methods working with seaweed in an iron-age style forge (provided by EXARC member Dave Budd).
In the frame of my MA and PhD work I have become familiar with analytical description (at macroscopic scale), and functional analysis of stone artefacts.
