In 10 hectares, “The Kievan Rus Park” reproduces Detinets of Kyiv in its historical dimensions and environment. The total park area is 50 hectares. Among the buildings which existed within the borders of Detinets (Kremlin) of V-XIII centuries and being reconstructed now there are the defensive wall ("zaborola"), the Tithe Church, St. Fedor's and Yanchin Monasteries, Sophia's, Michailovskiy and Podol Gates, Prince Vladimir's and Princess Olga's Palaces, Rotunda, Gridnitsa and others. Each of them reproduces the everyday life of the habitants of Ancient Kyiv. Information sources are not only archaeology and history; also ethnographic information is an important source.

The archaeological open-air museum is not only a place of culture and research; it is also a place of education and recreation. In addition, “The Kievan Rus Park” initiates scientific research outside the Park territory such as archaeological excavations of Kievan Rus implementiferous of V-XIII centuries, researching and recreating Ancient Rus shipbuilding by reconstructing Slav boat. International cooperation is highly valued. Kyiv is considered by the founders of “The Kievan Rus Park” to be one of the pillars of the world cultural heritage, the core of the East Slavic civilization and an important tourist destination.

The Park hosts several annual cultural and historical festivals and also fashion shows, ethnic tournaments, masquerades, fire shows, stunt shows, theatrical performances, dance and music performances and so on.
