The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is pleased to invite applications for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation – EXARC Fellowship. Fellowships are an important component of the work of the Education, Research and Historical Interpretation Division. Fellowships primarily support research on topics related to British America, the American Revolution, and the Early Republic.

The winner in 2019 (last round) was Dr Giovanna Fregni, an archaeologist, previously employed as Gem Cutter and Jewellery Designer. Giovanna starts her project in April 2022. Due to COVID-19 her visit in 2020 was postponed. She will construct a simple lapidary machine to polish and cut gems using materials and equipment available during the American Colonial period.
